Cecilia Beecher Martins

Cecilia Beecher Martins is English Language Professor at the Faculty of Letters, University of Lisbon and Assistant Professor at Instituto Superior Novas Profissões, Lisbon. She is also a member of the American Studies Researcher Group at ULICES (University of Lisbon Center for English Studies) and involved in the Narrative and Medicine Research Project there. Her main research interests are film studies, psychoanalytical literary & film criticism and narrative medicine. She has written and published many articles on the relationship between creative writing, free associative film and literary criticism and mental health. These include “Meeting Movies applied to Elizabethtown” (2009), “Shared Identity Constructs and the Cognitive Triad Represented in Poe’s ‘Alone’” (2010), “Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein: Writing a Way Out of Trauma” (2010) and “Looking at Film Through the Lens of Science” (2011).
